Osteopenia, Osteoporosis August 2018 News
August 07, 2018
Dear Friends,

August 2018 Osteopenia/Osteoporosis News

It has been awhile since I have sent a newsletter. Issues of personal health and national concerns have been taking up much of my time. .

I HAVE continued reading research studies related to Osteopenia and Osteoporosis. Most of the studies do not break new ground. There were a FEW that impelled me to edit some information already on the site....and add a some new pages too. . My hope is to add much more material in the next month or so. But today, if you do not mind, I would like to write of another issue. Our daily news is filled with reports that Nations are trying to out do one another economically, in military preparedness and in social prestige. In sports everyone wants to be Number 1. . . . . And what of us - you and I? Does the competitive model shape all our action too? When we approach death, will we feel like 'Winners or Losers"? .

What if we all just said: "No. Noooooo. Enough! Being Number 1 is NOT worth all the energy it takes or the economic, social and physical destruction it entails." . What if we decided on another path? .

Some of you may know this ancient story: There was a man traveling from Jerusalem to Jericho who was attacked by robbers who left him half dead. . All the 'good people' just passed him by. .

Then a stranger, a Samaritan, a man from a tribe that was despised, came walking by...saw the man lying there, cleansed his wounds, and took him a local 'hotel' , paid the owner and asked that he to care for the wounded man. And he said..if it costs more I will pay you on my way back. .

Imagine. If each of us resolved to look at every other person...every person - both friend and foe with eyes like that Samaritan. Think how we would feel...think how our neighborhoods, towns/cities, states, continents would feel. .

. Of course it takes great courage to reach out to a stranger or a 'sworn enemy' but think of what we could make of our world. .

If you do not already have the habit, will you join me for this next month in doing at least 1 kindness each day to a stranger...or like the Samaritan...to someone we think of as a 'sworn enemy'? Can we try it? Can we see if it will make any difference in our lives and in our personal sphere of influence? .

Please. We can change the course of history....if we want. Yes, if we grow our "I kindness each day" into a movement by doing it ourselves and sharing the idea with others...we who live with weaker bones could, despite that weakness change the social climate. ....We just could change the world. .

Thanks for reading! (Next month the newsletter will be back to direct bone building tips.)

Kate
