Abaloparatide Thymos Osteoporosis Medication Clinical Trials

 Abaloparatide Thymos 0steoporosis medication

In clinical trials Abaloparatide Thymos Osteoporosis medication was shown to reduce fracture risk by  increasing bone mass. This drug not only increased bone density but it also improved bone quality.                                                                  Unlike some other drugs (eg. Bisphosphonates ) that increase bone density by preventing the reduction of 'old bone'  and so can leave us with denser but weaker bones, Abaloparatide Thymus Osteoporosis medication actually improves bone quality in additions to making your bone  denser.... so with Ablaoparatide Thymos Osteoporosis medication you are less likely to have a bone fracture.

Images of bones of various bone density:

Notice the spaces in the Osteopenic and Osteoporosic bone. It is those spaces that make your bones more likely to fracture if sudden stress is put on them.

Abaloparatide Thymos Osteoporosis medication treatment offers something new to persons who have significant bone loss.

Most Osteoporosis prescription drugs increase bone density by preventing the body from discarding 'old bone'.  As a result these drugs  increase bone mass/density but they do not increase bone quality. In fact, the bones of persons using these drugs often become denser but at the same time they become weaker and subject to fracture because the bone is of such poor quality.  Those using these types of drugs  have thicker bones but these thicker bones are made up of bone that the body would normally discard because it has become 'old and weak'.

This problem of denser but weaker bone is  a common effect of taking bisphosphonate prescription drugs.  While it is true that many of the bisphosphonates, such as Fosamax, Actonel and Boniva increase bone density but the fact is that this increased density comes from the retention of 'old bone' so a person taking bisphosphonates usually have denser bones that are increasingly made up of  poor quality bone.  Because of this poor quality bone, bones can fracture easily or even crumble despite taking Osteoporosis medication.

Also, conditions such as Osteronecrosis of the jaw (dead jaw) have developed in some patients taking bisphosphonates. And research has found a danger from poor quality bone increases the longer a person takes the bisphosphonate drug. (Many physicians now limit the time a patient is prescribed any bisphosphonate drug.)

In other words, if a person uses bisphosphonate drugs for a long period of time that person may develop increased bone density but the quality of the bone is not good so fractures follow......  the new, weaker bone can not sustain significant stress.

Abaloparatide Thymos Osteoporosis medication does not seem to have the bisphosphonate drug issue.

Abaloparatide Thymos Osteoporosis medication  works in a different fashion from bisphosphonates.  As a result it does not appear to increase the likelihood of fractures even when used for long periods of time. This is good news for anyone concerned about fractures as a result of developing Osteopenia or Osteoporosis ( excessive bone loss).

Practical action. If you are taking a prescription drug for Osteoporosis, you might want to speak with your health care provider about the drug's long term side effects.     Because some drugs are fairly new to the market, your health care provider may need some time to read the research studies before answering your questions - especially if your prescription drug  is quite new and there are no or few studies of it long term effects.   Always remember that drugs can have some unintended consequences! Find out what they are. (You can also find this information online.)

Also remember that Abaloparatide Thymos Osteoporosis medication is made from animal tissue, not just chemicals.

Some may be concerned that if the animals involved had other issues or illness, those could be passed on to those taking the prescription.  Please, be sure to discuss any and ALL your concerns about Abaloparatide Thymos Osteoporosis medication with your medical provider before you start taking the drug

Abaloparatide Thymos Osteoporosis medication is manufactured by Radius Health. It is only approved for women with severe Osteoporosis - those who have already suffered a fracture. (I am not sure why this restriction was put in place. I assume because of potential side effects ) It is administered once daily by a subcutaneous (just below the skin) injection into the periumbilical region (the part of the stomach right around the belly button). That is it...an injection; no pills to swallow.
