Primary biliary cholangitis PBC Osteoporosis, Osteopenia cause

Primary biliary cholangitis PBCOsteoporosis, Osteopenia cause. PBC is an autoimmune cholestatic liver disease that often has multiple complications. Osteoporosis is a common complication of this disease and so persons living with PBC often suffer fractures because of it.

Unlike the usual post menopausal Osteoporosis or Osteopenia, that which is caused by PBC is due to the conditions affect on the liver. Instead of the usual post menopausal problem of too much resorption of bone, in this situation persons too little bone is formed in persons with Primary biliary cholangitis (PBC) Osteoporosis or Osteopenia.   But whether the body removes too much bone to fast or whether the body does not make enough bone , the result is the same: Osteoporosis. Instead of solid strong bones, the person develops porous bones, pocked by small spaces....spaces which would normally be filled with bone. These open spaces weaken the bones and so they are more likely to fracture under sudden or heavy pressure.

Although the cause of PrimarybiliarycholangitisPBC Osteoporosis, Osteopenia is different from post menopausal Osteoporosis or Osteopenia,  the treatment is not very different at all. But research emphasizes that prevention of the condition by mitigating the risk factors of alcohol use and smoking is worth doing. Just stop drinking and stop smoking. If you need help in learning to abstain, ask your health care provider for some ideas and/or referrals to those who will be able to help you.  In addition of stopping alcohol use and smoking, research studies also advise eating a healthy 'bone building' diet if you have the condition: See: Alkaline Diet for Osteoporosis, Osteopenia .                                                                                                                                                                                                                In addition PrimarybiliarycholangitisPBC Osteoporosis, Osteopenia requires that anyone having the condition take part in regular weight bearing exercises. Ask your health care provider if he or she can recommend a program or a trainer who is familiar with your condition and could guide you in adequate weight training.  Or to read more about useful bone restoring and bone building exercises that you can start on your own, click the link for a discussion of exercises and Primary biliary cholangitis (PBC) Osteoporosis, Osteopenia.
