Your Bones by Lara Pizzorno
by Sheila B.
After reading many books on osteoporosis some of which are listed above I have found YOUR BONES to be the most up to date and informative book on using natural treatments to increase bone density.
Lara Pizzorno is an established medical writer married to a Naturopathic DR who also is the founder of Bastyr University. This book is full of information that totally supports her experience of why she chose the non prescription route to increase her bone density. Like you, she was successful in her choices.
She studied clinical studies and takes the time to explain the issues with each and what the studies conclude doing comparisons that really make sense. She goes into depth explaining strontium and the differences between the ranelate and the citrate, how they work and which one is most effective.
The book is very well written and documented. I highly recommend reading it and feel at this time it is THE most up to date book on this subject of osteoporosis and treatments for it out there. I do have many questions about the use of acupuncture. Your website explains that AP works the same way that bisphosphonates work by keeping the osteoclasts from clearing away the old bone. So I would like to learn more about that.
I love and appreciate all of the work you are are doing on bone research and it is so very helpful. I am so glad I just happened to come across your blog, osteopenia3. Many thanks for all you are doing. I've also had trouble confirming my e-mail address with your website.
