Glucocorticoids Osteoporosis Osteopenia. If you suffer from
allergies, asthma, an autoimmune disease, and/or sepsis, your health care provider may give you a prescription for one of the many glucocorticoids: Cortisol (hydrocortisone), Cortisone, Prednisone , Prednisolon, Methylprednisolone,
Dexamethasone, Betamethasone, Triamcinolone, Beclometasone, Fludrocortisone acetate, Deoxycorticosterone acetate (DOCA) or Aldosterone.
If and you have been diagnosed with Osteopenia or Osteoporosis you need to tell your health care provider immediately - BEFORE you start one of these prescription drugs. Why?
Glucocorticoids (All of them) cause bone loss. These drugs can cause Osteopenia or Osteoporosis.... or if you already have the condition, these drugs can make it worse. Whatever caused your bone loss to begin with, could now have an added cause of bone loss in operation. You could now increase your bone loss with Glucocorticoids Osteoporosis Osteopenia.
Let me repeat. These drugs cause bone loss and,if you already have the Osteopenia or Osteoporosis, these drugs can make it worse. Talk with your health care provider. Maybe something different can be tried first. And if the alternate treatment
works, you will be able to avoid using these bone robbing drugs.
Now it may be that nothing else can work and you do need to take one of these glucocorticoids. It may be that one of them is the only medication that can control your asthma, your allergic reactions or some other serious medical condition. If that is
the case, then you will want to become proactive about bone building.

You may want to take up Tai chi both because it helps to prevent falls (a major cause of fractures) AND it also builds bone.

and preventing fractures. You can find them under Natural Treatments
Also, you will want to talk with your health care provider about getting your bone density tests on a regular schedule. Even China has shortened the time between bone density tests of those at risk because of glucocorticoids. See: China and testing for Glucocorticoids Osteoporosis Osteopenia
