Osteopenia medication

Osteopenia medication. Although there are a number of  pharmeceutial drugs  approved for the treatment of Osteoporosis,  there have been NO pharmeceutialc drugs approved as  specific to Osteopenia.  Many people are surprised to find this out. Some are disappointed. But even without a pharmeceutical drug,  there are many effective ways to reverse bone loss without those drugs. 

So how is Osteopenia treated without an Osteopenia Medication?

Osteopenia is usually treated with nutrition and bone building exercises.   You will find these methods described on the following pages:

  • Bone building exercises - Exercise is especially important.
  • Osteopenia balance exercises Balance exercises are important for anyone with low bone density. You want to avoid falls. If you do not fall, you are less likely to break a bone. The exercises are simple and many people intergrate them into their day.
  • Using a weight vest that allows you to increase weights at regular intervals will hlep build bone since the weight will add the necessary stress to stimulate your osteoblasts (bone building cells).
  • Using progressive ankle weights during exercise can increase hip bone density
  • Accupuncture - there are specific accupunture points that stimulate bone building.
  • Tai chi is helpful both to increase your balance so you do not fall and break a bone and it also stimulate bone building in post menopausal women.
  • Yoga can be helpful in increasing balance. But there are potential drawbacks to Yoga if you have Osteopenia or Osteoporosis. Please read the linked page.

Using an Osteopenia Medication

Under some conditions, your health care provider might prescribe an Osteoporosis drug as an Osteopenia medication for you. If that is the case, I hope you will  read up on the drug that has been prescribed and pay special attention to possible side effects. You are wise to want to reverse your Osteopenia.   There is no reason why your bone loss needs to continue.  You do NOT want to develop Osteoporosis, which is a more serious condition that can lead to fracture more easily.  Remember . there are a number of ways, other than Osteoporosis medications that you can use to achieve your goa of buildign strong bonesl:

  1.  Diet: calcium foods 
  2.  Bone building exercises
  3.  Herbs that increase bone density such as Amla . Black Cohash , Bushen . Chamomile Er Zi Wan , GushukangHerba Epimedii , Marijuana (CBD) , Red clover ,Sage,  Teasel ( Radix Dipsaci)
